Until Ukraine joins NATO de jure it should join the Alliance de facto - the Ukrainian Armed Forces should comply with standards of the Alliance

The Armed Forces of Ukraine must fully comply with standards the NATO countries-participants follow while the Ukrainian military personnel should have appropriate skills and training, said Prime Minister of Ukraine Arseniy Yatsenyuk during reporting by members of the Cabinet of Ministers about results of its activities on Friday, August 28.

"Peace can never be granted. Peace must be fought for. And strong Armed Forces appear a key to achieving peace and stability in Ukraine", said the Head of Government.

Arseniy Yatsenyuk views among principal objectives to join NATO de facto before the moment Ukraine will join it de jure: "It means that the Ukrainian Armed Forces should fully comply with all the logistics and standards followed by the Alliance’s member countries while the Ukrainian military have to possess appropriate skills and appropriate training."

He noted that the current year Government had allocated almost UAH 100 billion for financing of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

"We're not going to reduce funding of the Military Department", emphasized Arseniy Yatsenyuk.
The Prime Minister also noted the need as part of reforming of the AFU to strengthen the contract and professional component in our Armed Forces.
