Talks on flights resuming between Ukraine, Russia possible after flights to Crimea stop, fines are paid

Negotiations between Ukraine and Russia on flights resuming between the two countries are only possible after the termination of flights by Russian air carriers to Crimea and after all the fines incurred by these illegal flights have been paid, Ukraine's Ministry of Infrastructure has told Interfax-Ukraine.

The agency confirmed that the State Aviation Service of Ukraine received a letter from the Russian Federal Air Transport Agency which outlined a position that was unacceptable for Ukraine.

As reported, the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsia) sent the State Aviation Service of Ukraine a letter on October 28 in which it was suggested to continue negotiations on renewing air traffic between Russia and Ukraine, Rosaviatsia said.

"Sharing the concerns of the airlines and given the lack of any response from the Ukrainian side after the October 23, 2015 meeting, Rosaviatsia sent a letter to the State Aviation Service of Ukraine in which yet again the essence of the proposal was reiterated and readiness was expressed to continue dialogue with the aims of the soonest revival of air transportation between Russian and Ukraine," Rosaviatsia said.
