The Japanese investor wants to produce goods for EU in Ukraine

The Japanese business is searching for new investment markets and considers Ukraine to be an attractive country for launching investment projects aimed at supplying of products to the EU.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Ukraine Shigeki Sumi said this at the briefing on Friday.

"We expect this agreement to contribute to the economic development of Ukraine. The Japanese companies find business in Ukraine very attractive, taking into account the geographical location on the EU borders, high technological and educational standards, and large market," the Ambassador said.

"The Japanese companies see greater opportunity of investment in the fields aimed at the European Union market rather than the domestic Ukrainian market," Sumi said, noting that the main reason for such a position is the low labor cost in Ukraine and attractive UAH/EUR exchange rate.

According to him, the largest investments have been made in the tobacco and automobile industries as of now.
