President: Efficient struggle against corruption is the main task for the Security Service of Ukraine

President Petro Poroshenko called corruption the main internal enemy of Ukraine. At the concluding meeting of the Security Service of Ukraine, the President called the struggle against corruption the main task for the Security Service in 2016. He urged to ensure further complex implementation of the anti-corruption policy in the judicial power and law enforcement bodies.

The Head of State noted that the Security Service efficiently combatted corruption in close cooperation with newly established National Anti-Corruption Bureau and Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecution.

“I expect greater efficiency of cooperation for every Ukrainian to notice progress in the fight against corruption in Ukraine,” Petro Poroshenko said.

According to the President, occasions of corruption took place in the Security Service itself. In this context, he noted unprecedented and resolute steps of the Security Service towards purification of the institution from these problems. Nobody will have “protection” or “shelter”. The supreme political power of the country demonstrated political will to eliminate corruption both in the Security Service and the state bodies,” the President emphasized.

Another priority for the Security Service is the implementation of the counterintelligence regime in the country. The President noted the necessity of ensuring resistance to the Russian aggression and its puppets – so-called DPR and LPR, as well as the creeping aggression that extends from Crimea.

The President underlined the importance of enhanced struggle against shadowing and monopolization of the economy, as well as the necessity of its deoligarchization. He also urged to direct efforts at combating organized criminal groups and take measures to prevent the spread of illegal weapons in the country.
