Rapid Trident 2016 NATO drills kick off in western Ukraine


More than 1,800 soldiers from 14 NATO member states and their partners will participate in joint military drills held at Yavoriv military training site in western Ukraine from June 27 till July 8, the Europeiska Pravda news portal.

The exercises are part of the Rapid Trident program, which brings together NATO members and its allies in eastern Europe. Rapid Trident exercise will involve armored vehicles maneuvering, shooting practice with small arms and coordinating operations with military helicopters. According to Ukraine's Defense Ministry, in 2016 Ukrainian army representatives will participate in 10 various multinational military drills.
